Gould & Ratner is pleased to announce that Jessica Lingertat and David Michael have been selected by their fellow partners to serve a two-year term on the firm’s Management Committee as Managing Partners of the firm. David will be serving his first term on the four-member committee, while Jessica continues her service, having previously served for several years. The pair join Linsey Cohen and Brian Gilbert on the committee; each are currently in the middle of their two-year terms as Managing Partners of the firm.

Gould & Ratner LLP was named by U.S. News & World Report to its inaugural list of the “Best Companies to Work For” among U.S. law firms for 2024.

Gould & Ratner has been named to Midwest Real Estate News “Best of the Best” law firms for the seventh consecutive year. The firm was ranked No. ­­­13 of all Midwest firms with commercial real estate practices, remaining the same from last year’s No. 13 placement. This ranking is reflective of the total number of deals valued at $1 million and above that Gould & Ratner completed in 2022.

The Illinois Supreme Court has issued a landmark decision affecting the home building and construction industry.  The ruling in favor of M/I Homes of Chicago has clarified that insurance companies owe a defense to their homebuilding and construction customers who are accused of construction defects causing property damage, even in circumstances where the allegations of construction defects are “groundless, false, or fraudulent.”

Gould & Ratner is pleased to announce that John Byrne, the firm’s Chief Marketing Officer, has been selected to serve as President-Elect of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) for 2024, and will serve on its International Board of Directors.   The appointment becomes effective on January 1, 2024.
