Linsey Cohen, Chair of Gould & Ratner’s Real Estate Practice, was recognized as a “Chicago Power Women” for 2021 by Bisnow, honoring the current and next generation of women leaders in commercial real estate. Linsey formally accepted her award at the honoring event on Feb. 17. She also presented a panel at the event, titled “Having It All: Many Paths, One Journey,” alongside Michelle Mills Clement, CEO of the Chicago Association of Realtors, and Sophie Bidek, Partner at Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture.

John Mays, a partner in Gould & Ratner’s Real Estate Practice, was recognized as one of 37 real estate professionals to be inducted into Midwest Real Estate News’ (MREN) 2021 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame.

Gould & Ratner is pleased to announce that four attorneys have been selected as 2022 Illinois Super Lawyers. Each year, no more than five percent of Illinois lawyers receive this honor. In addition, four attorneys have been named Illinois Rising Stars, which awards lawyers who are under 40 and practicing fewer than 10 years. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor each year.

Gould & Ratner recently represented Gillig LLC in a joint venture with RR.AI (the commercial division of Robotic Research). Robotic Research is a leader in autonomous mobility and robotics solutions. The joint venture will develop driver assistance and implement self-driving vehicle technology for Gillig’s commuter buses, beginning with its latest electric bus model. The technology could protect drivers through safety features including automatic emergency breaking, precision docking, blind spot detection and pedestrian avoidance. It also would allow a vehicle to drive itself under specific circumstances, but most of the time a human driver would still be required.

Gould & Ratner recently represented 601W Companies in the acquisition of Buckingham Place apartment building in Des Plaines, IL. 601W is one of America’s leading private real estate companies, and the new owners of the long-vacant Old Chicago Main Post Office. 601W’s purchase of Buckingham Place marks the company’s first deal in the Chicago suburbs and first apartment complex in Illinois.

Gould & Ratner recently represented CC Industries in the acquisition of Central Indiana Ethanol (CIE), expanding CC Industries’ portfolio of businesses and introducing a new industry sector for the holding company. Chicago-based CC Industries is the holding company for the Crown Family’s privately-held companies, including: GILLIG, Great Dane Trailers, J.L. Clark, Miracapo Pizza Company, Provisur Technologies, Riverside Rail, Selig, Southern Devall Group and Trail King Industries. CIE is one of the largest producers of grain-based, high quality, specialty alcohols in the U.S.
